In Historic First, Four Mormon Women Start at Harvard Divinity School

You don't often see many Mormon women at Harvard Divinity School, which is why having four at once is unprecedented and awesome.

Back-to-school this year includes four Mormon women beginning their studies at Harvard Divinity School. According to this personal blog post from Jenna Alatriste, one of the Divinity school candidates, this is the first time ever there have been four LDS women simultaneously starting the program. (The comment that this happened in 2000 has actually been debunked by Taylor Petrey, HDS alumni – it was only 3 women that year.)

Four women or three, I am just so happy to see LDS women pursuing education. While this isn’t always possible for everyone, it is inspiring to see. And all this in the same week that we learn about women in the church in new leadership councils! Things are happening, friends, and while the changes may sometimes seem small and slow, they are changes.
